Exchange 2013 installation Notes
Step 1
======
Run updates for Widows 2012 R2
Download and Install all prerequisites:
(1) Check for .NET Framework 4.5.2 or later by using regedit to find the value of:
Software\Microsoft\NET Framework Setup\NDP\v4.0\Full\Release subkey under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
should be 379893 or greater.
If not install .NET Framework 4.5.2 or later
https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/5a4x27ek(v=vs.110).aspx
(will need a restart)
(2) Install Microsoft Unified Communications Managed API 4.0, Core Runtime 64-bit
http://download.microsoft.com/download/2/C/4/2C47A5C1-A1F3-4843-B9FE-84C0032C61EC/UcmaRuntimeSetup.exe
If while installing UCMA 4.0 you get a prerequisite of "Media Foundation"
goto add roles and features and add the feature. (will require a reboot)
(3) Before Exchange 2013 SP1 the install would warn that the Office
Filter Pack was required. However Exchange 2013 uses Search Foundation
(Shared with Sharepoint 2013) and not MSSearch. So Ignore the warning
and Exchange 2013 will still install.
(4)If this is not a domain controller then run the following Power Shell commands to install the required
Windows components. Exchange needs remote server administration tools and IIS for Exchange management.
